Amadeus came with their analysis for “Global Air Traffic Trends” yesterday.
A few points that we observed –
- The world is increasingly traveling in and out of the east. Asia and Dubai registered a growth in air travel with Asia clocking a growth in air travel of 9% and the Middle East (DXB + AUH + DOH) registering a combined growth of 20%.
- Passenger volumes clocked a mammoth 787 million in Asia being the highest, and 52 million in Africa being the lowest.
- Low cost air carrier penetration grew across the world except in Latin America where it dipped by 1.7 %
- Amadeus found two new emerging markets in Latin America – Peru and Colombia which grew at 28% and 11% respectively last year.
